Revelation 7:17 - The Lamb of God in the Midst of the Throne
I have added the above to my Jesus and His God website.
Does anything in Revelation 7:17 mean that Jesus is Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
Excerpt from study:
Apparently, some see the phrase "in the midst" the meaning that Jesus is sitting in the middle of the throne, and Jesus is thus Jehovah the shepherd of Psalm 23:1. We should note that Revelation 4:6 speaks of others in the midst of the throne: "In the midst of the throne and around the throne were four living creatures, full of eyes before and behind." (Green's Literal) Obviously, this is speaking of having a favored position before the throne, not sitting on the throne. It depicts a position of great honor before He who is sitting on the throne.
That Jesus is NOT He who is sitting on the throne is seen from Revelation 5:6,7, where the Lamb is depicted as taking the scroll out of the hand of Him who is sitting on the throne. Jesus was worthy to open this scroll because he had been faithful to his God even to death (Philippians 2:8; Hebrews 3:2), for which death he us figuratively depicted as the slain Lamb in Revelation.
