I have republished my response to one who is claiming that, when Jesus did come in 1874, that Brother Russell changed it to 1914.
One of the misconceptions many have is that before 1874, Brother Russell had "predicted" that Christ was to return in 1874. In reality, before 1876, Brother Russell held no interest in the "dates" of the "Second Adventists", thus, he could not, in 1876, have predicted that Christ was to return in 1874 two years earlier. Nevertheless, some continue to claim that when Christ did not come in 1874, that Brother Russell changed it to 1914, which is false. Brother Russell died in 1916 still holding to the belief that Christ had returned in 1874. He did not change it from 1874 to 1914.
