This in response to a video on Youtube entitled: Exposing Jehovahs Witnesses False Religion! Use of Fear, Necromancy,Twisted doctrines and Bible. Much of the video is not about the JWs, but about Charles Taze Russell. Over a year ago, I responded to this video under it comments. I have edited comments and I present them below:
Charles Taze Russell was never a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Russell did not believe in such an authoritarian organization, nor did he believe in the same message that is preached by the JW organization. It is misleading to say that he is founder of that in which he did not believe and which he preached against.

Russell never once at any time said anything at all to the effect that lying is a good thing.
To me it is obvious that God did use Brother Russell to bring forth many truths from the Bible. I will be eternally grateful for learning the truth about the ransom, and why God is allowing so much suffering in the world. It is obvious to me that Russell was a servant of God, endeavoring to stay by the Bible. He was not perfect; but do you know of any religious leader (except Jesus) who is perfect?
Unlike the JWs, Russell never taught that salvation depended on being of an organization, or a sect, etc. He did not ever say that one had belong the Bible Students movement in order to be saved, nor did he ever say that one had to accept his studies, etc., in order to be saved. The only way of salvation that Russell taught was through Jesus.
I do agree that the Watchtower today is very similar to the Catholic organization. However, Russell's Watch Tower was not at all like today's JWs' Watchtower.
Russell used the "sun of righteousness" symbol to illustrate the Biblcal "sun of righteousness" (Malachi 4:2); as yet, however, I have not seen any Knights Templar (or Masonic) image that is exactly like which Russell used. As best as I know, the illustration Russell used was a special design. Russell's usage of that illustration has nothing to do with the Freemasons, or occultism, etc.

In some of his writings, Russell showed that he seemed to believe that all Masons are Knights Templar, which claims to be Christian. He seemed to view all Masons as being believers in Jesus, and thus called them brethren. This does not mean that he was agreement with the general teachings of the Masons.

Russell never said anything to the effect that the end justifies the means. Look as one may, one will never find anything in Russell's writings to that effect.
There is nothing in the design of cover of Russell's Watch Tower that pronotes occultism, spiritism, heathen religions, etc.

After Russell died, Rutherford made many claims about Russell that Russell never claimed for himself. For instance, Rutherford claimed Russell was a prophet; Russell, himself openly disclaimed being a prophet. The only prophecies Russell believed in were the prophecies of the Bible. Of course, in reality, Russell had no control of what Rutherford taught after Russell died.

The truths of the Bible are indeed secret information, and one can only get that secret information by contacting the source of the information through Jesus in prayer, and by study of what God has revealed through his Holy Spirit in the Bible.
he Masonic Center across the street from the Rosemont Cemetry did not exist when Russell was buried. It was built many decades after Russell died. It has nothing at all to do with Russell.
I do believe that Brother Russell overstated some things, and as some Masons have told me, he seemed to be ignorant of Masonic teachings.
Charles Taze Russell was definitely not a Satanist; his wife made a lot of insinuations, but they all fell short of accusing him of being a pedophile.
Russell was of the same Adamic bloodline as you and me; anyone of this bloodline can put faith in the blood of Jesus for redemption.
There is no scripture that says that Christ's body in which he died was resurrected from the dead; I agree with Russell on this, although I do not agree with all that Russell stated concerning this. As foretold, Jesus, after being raised from the dead, did raise up his former body for the appearances in the closed/locked room.

Russell most certainly DID NOT deny the Millennial reign of Christ; indeed, his Studies in the Scriptures were originally called MILLENNIAL DAWN, based on that millennial reign of Jesus.

I highly recommend the book, Crisis of Conscience (by Raymond Franz), although I do not agree with all of the conclusions presented. Overall, it echoes similar experiences I and many others who left the JW organization went through.

Many trinitarians have taught that the archangel Michael is Jesus, and that the archangel is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; Russell, however, recognized that Jesus was indeed created, being the firstborn creature.

Russell did not deny any doctrine actually taught in the Bible. He did deny a lot of things that some claim that is taught in the Bible and showed from the Bible the difference. He did not deny the deity of Jesus as that deity is presented in the Bible. Russell did believe that Jesus was raised with a spiritual body, not with his former physivcal body, since to believe that he has human body would deny the redemption in Christ.
Russell believed that Jesus is god -- a mighty one -- but he showed from the Bible that Jesus is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; he did not believe that Jehovah is a trinity, in which I, having examined the scriptures myself, agree with him.

Yes, Russell did speak of "some" things that one can agree the Masons about, on other occasions he spoke of about 'some' things that he could agree with Baptists, Methodists, Buddhists, etc. This does not mean that he was agreement with major teachings of any of these.
he Biblical illustrations that Russell used were not "occult images". Occultists may have used similar images in their worship, but this does not mean that images used to present Biblical ideas are "occult images". Indeed, the Bible itself has been used for "occult" purposes. Brother Russell taught against occultism.

The picture given described as "Charles Taze Russell's grave" is not at all the grave of Charles Taze Russell; it is a picture of Rutherford's pyramid monument. No one is buried in or under that monument. See my video: Is Charles Taze Russell Buried In or Under a Pyramid?

The real question is why do so many people find it so easy to spread so many falsehoods about Brother Russell?
Charles Taze Russell preached against such a thing as a "governing body"; he did not believe in this, and all through the years of his ministry he preached against such. Right before his death, he stated, "Let it be borne in mind that the Society exercises no authority, makes no criticism, but merely gives advice; and that in the interest of the Lord’s Cause and the Lord’s people." WT 8-15-1916.
