John 2:19 – Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” John 2:20 – The Jews therefore said, “Forty-six years was this temple in building, and will you raise it up in three days?” John 2:21 – But he spoke of the temple of his body. John 2:22 – When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
Many claim that this proves that Jesus is Yahweh, since it is further claimed that Jesus said that he was raise himself from the dead. But, actually, Jesus did not say that he would raise himself from the dead, but that he would raise up the temple of his body after it had been destroyed for three days.
Yes, Jesus did indeed raise up the temple of his body after his God raised him from the dead. Jesus, however, did not raise himself from the dead, since the dead cannot do anything. -- Ecclesiastes 9:5,10.
