One has responded concerning our belief that Jesus existed before he became a human being, that this belief contradicts Luke 1 and Matthew 1.
There is no contradcition any where in either Matthew or Luke with the scriptures that show that Jesus did indeed exist before he was begotten as the Messiah in the womb of Mary. His being begotten in the womb of Mary does not preclude his earlier begettal as the only-begotten god (John 1:18); this can be seen by the fact that even though he was begotten in the womb of Mary as a human being, he was also begotten again as a spirit being when he was raised from the dead. -- Psalm 2:7; Acts 13:33; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 1:5; Revelation 1:5.
The scriptures show that Jesus was begotten (brought forth) three times:
(1) as the firstborn creature. — Colossians 1:15; Proverbs 8:22-25.
(2) as a human. — Matthew 1:20; Hebrews 10:5.
(3) from the dead when raised from the dead. — Psalm 2:7; Acts 13:33; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 1:5; 5:5.
In the first instance, he was brought forth in existence as the only-begotten god (mighty one) likened to the celestial glory (1 Corinthians 15:39-41) before the world of mankind had been made through him. -- John 1:3,10,18; 17:5.
In the second instance, he was brought forth into existence as a human being of flesh, likened to the terrestrial glory (1 Corinthians 15:39-40) that is a little lower than the angels. -- Psalm 8:4,5; Hebrews 2:9.
In the third instance, he was brought forth into existence again as a spirit being, likened to the celestial glory (1 Corinthians 15:39-40), exalted far above the angels. -- Philippians 2:9; Ephesians 1:3,17-23; Hebrews 1:4; 1 Peter 3:18,22.
