Bible Questions for Accurate Understanding
How well do you know your Bible?
[The answer to each question is confirmed by scripture]
It is somewhat difficult to keep going back and forth from question to answers. I will try, God willing, to take one question at a time and place the given answer for each question, and may or may not add some comments.
(1) With what statement concerning God, must we all agree?
(1) No man has seen God at any time. (John 1:18)
John 1:18
No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God [mighty one] who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. -- New American Standard.
While the Greek does not say "man" in John 1:18, it is evident that it is speaking of "man" -- human beings, who are by definition a little lower than the angels. (Psalm 8:4-8; Hebrews 2:5-7) Angels, being spirit beings, can see God. -- Matthew 18:10.
Many trinitarians, however, will claim that it is only "God the Father" who cannot be seen (which is true, since the God and Father of Jesus is the only true God -- John 17:1,3). They will add to the Bible, however, that their alleged "God the Son" can be seen. And at the same time, they claim that "God the Son" is "fully" or "wholly" the one God, and thus "God" can be seen, but that the Father, who is also "fully" or "wholly" the same one God cannot be seen (in reality, to say that God the Son can be seen but that God the Father cannot be seen would mean that each are not fully the one God, but that each are part of the one God, which most trinitarians will deny). Some trinitarians claim that their "God the Holy Spirit" can also be seen.
In reality, John 1:18 identifies the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as being only one person, and that the Son of God came to explain concerning the unipersonal "God" who cannot be seen. Although Jesus was begotten as a MIGHTY spirit being before he came to the earth (Colossians 1:15), and he was begotten again as a mighty spirit being when he was raised fromm the dead (Psalm 2:7; Acts 13:33,34; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 1:5; 5:5; Revelation 1:5), Jesus is not the Almighty Yahweh, the only true MIGHTY SPIRIT BEING who is the source of all, and who is the invisible God who cannot be seen by humans. -- John 17:5; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 6:16.
