Peace Does Not Raise Quality of Life
• In 2011, world population grew to 7 billion, yet there were over 40 million abortions.
• In the U.S. alone, over 7 million people — 0.1 percent of the world population — are imprisoned, paroled, or on probation.
• Eighty percent of global humanity survives on the equivalent of less than $10 per day, with 40 percent of the world’s population accounting for only 5 percent of the world’s income.
• According to UNICEF, 25,000 children die each day due to poverty. “They die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world”.
• More than 27 percent of all children in developing countries are estimated to be underweight or stunted, mostly in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
• An estimated 40 million people suffer from HIV/AIDS resulting in over three million deaths annually.
• Nearly 500 million annual cases of malaria result in one million deaths.
• About half the population of developing countries ail due to lack of clean water and basic sanitation, with 1.8 million children dying annually from the results of diarrhea.
Despite fewer deaths in war, painful disease and abject poverty continue to plague mankind. While leaders dedicate resources toward minimizing war through a global balance of power, their subjects continue to experience the curse of sin and disease. No amount of spending or efforts can reverse this trend. Only God can remove this curse.
