1 Corinthians 1:22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom, 1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, 1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Some have made the claim that Paul said that God was foolish. Evidently, this claim is made to support the idea that many have adopted that Paul was a false apostle, or that his writings should not be included in the Bible.
Obviously, Paul was not saying that God is actually foolish or that He is weak. Paul is simply drawing upon the way that the unenlightened Jews and Greeks view the God and Father of Jesus, in the message of the good news being proclaimed. What is viewed by the unenlightened men as being "foolishness" is actually wise, and that which is viewed by the unenlightened men as "weakness" is actually stronger than the opinions of men.
Perhaps it would be better if translators would put "foolishness" and "weakness" in quotes, to show that he was using these words to denote how those men view the Gospel and thus the God being preached by Christians.
