John 10:28-29 - and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.[29] My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
John 10:28 is sometimes presented as proof that Jesus is God Almighty. Evidently the thought is that only God can give life, and thus, this is thought to prove that Jesus is God, the Supreme Being.
The Most High Shepherd, Jehovah, owns the sheep, as shown in Ezekiel 34:11-15, but he gives his sheep to "one shepherd" spoke of in Ezekiel 34:23 and John 10:16. This 'one shepherd" to whom Jehovah gives His sheep is not Jehovah himself. -- John 10:29.
Rather than showing that Jesus is Jehovah from whom Jesus received the sheep, the above shows that Jesus is not Jehovah to whom the sheep belong. The power Jesus has to give life comes from the only true God who sent Jesus. The scriptures reveal that Jesus receives his inheritance and dominion (power) from Jehovah. His power and authority is given to him by his God, his unipersonal Supreme Being. Jesus is not Jehovah [his unipersonal God and Father] who gives him this dominion, all authority and power (with the evident exception of the position of being the Most High himself -- 1 Corinthians 15:27), yet the exercise of this power and authority by Jesus is all to the praise of Jehovah, the unipersonal God and Father of the Lord Jesus. The Bible writers never claimed that Jesus is the ultimate "source" of his own power. -- Deuteronomy 18:15-19; Psalm 2:6-8; 45:7; 110:1,2; Isaiah 9:6,7; 11:2; 42:1; 61:1-3; Jeremiah 23:5; Ezekiel 34:23,24; 37:24; Daniel 7:13,14; Micah 5:4; Matthew 12:28; 28:18; Luke 1:32; 4:14,18; 5:17; John 3:34; 5:19,27,30; 10:18,36-38; Acts 2:22,36; 3:13-26; 10:38; Romans 1:1-4; 1 Corinthians 15:27; 2 Corinthians 13:4; Colossians 1:15,16; 2:10; Ephesians 1:3,17-23; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:2,4,6,9; 1 Peter 3:22.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ." -- Romans 6:23.
Romans 5:21 - that as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:18 - But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation;
The giving of the new life, of course, is from the only true Supreme Being (John 17:1,3) through Jesus, whom the only true Supreme Being anointed and sent. (Isaiah 61:1) And this life is the result of Jesus' ransom offering of himself to God for our sins. Jesus acknowledge that the work he did is that of his God and Father. (John 14:10) The fact that the only true Supreme Being has given to Jesus the authority and power to give life does not mean that we need to imagine, assume, add to, and read into the scriptures that Jesus is God Almighty.
Jehovah's power to give life comes from no one else.
