I am beginning a series of responses to Pastor Kachelmeier at:
www.redeemertheologicalacademy.org/2013/01/16/what-about-the-jehovahs-witnesses/#
Brother Russell is being compared to Sabellius.
My response:
I evidently received no email about this response, and did not know it was here until today (4/3/2021). I have started responses today, but, God willing, it may take many days to respond to all that is presented. Additionally, God willing, I hope to also be posting my responses in the proboards Bible Light forum regarding this.
I am not sure why Brother Russell is being compared to Sabbelius. As far as we know, we do not have any of the writings of Sabbelius today so as to examine what he did or did not claim. All we have are are writings of others. Sabbelius, however, did indeed teach that God is one person, but he did not teach that one person as being the God and Father of Jesus, as is found in the Bible. The Bible now where presents any idea that the one God of whom are all (1 Corinthians 8:6) is more then one person, nor that is there any idea ever presented anywhere in the Bible to the effect that Jesus is the "one God" of whom are all, the one person who spoke to and through the prophets of old. Hebrews 1:1,2 distinguishes Jesus from being the God who spoke through his prophets of old. The one person is God is Hebrews 1:1,2 is same Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaa cand Jacob, who anointed and sent Jesus, to whom Jesus prayed, to whom Jesus rendered worship, of whom Jesus was the servant, and whose will Jesus carried out in willful obedience. -- Deuteronomy 18:15-19; Psalm 45:7; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 4:4; Matthew 4:7; Matthew 4:10; Luke 4:4; Matthew 4:7; Matthew 4:10; Matthew 22:29-40; Matthew 26:42; Matthew 27:46; Mark 10:6; Mark 14:36; 15:34; Luke 4:8; Luke 22:42; John 3:34; 5:30; 6:38; 10:36; 17:1,3; 20:17; Acts 3:13-26; Romans 15:6; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 1:3; 11:31; Ephesians 1:3,17-23; 4:6; Philippians 2:8; Hebrews 1:9; 10:7; 1 Peter 1:3; Revelation 2:7; 3:2,12.
The reality is that unlike Sabellius, Russell taught the Biblical truth that the one person who is God is the God and Father of Jesus. The reality is that there is no Biblical doctrine that there is one Divine Esssence who is alleged to be three distinct persons of any alleged "Holy Blessed Trinity." No such concept is even once to be found in the Bible, and one has to create a tremendous amount of assumptions beyond what is written, and then add those assumptions to, and read those assumptions into, what is actually written, in order to "see" the trinitarian concept in the scriptures. I have addressed the trinitarian concepts in my sites: "Jesus and Jehovah" blogspot site, "The Ransom for All" blogspot site, "Trinity in the Bible?" blogspot site, "Son of Jehovah Wordpress site.
God willing, I will return in days following to address the rest of Pastor Kachelmeier's statements.
