One who believes in the trinity claims regarding John 1:1: <<'In the beginning, (before anything was or existed) was The Word (this is His significant Title): He existed. 'The Word was with God (Father and Spirit) and Was God.' This is the depiction of the Trinity Godhead. He (The Word) was with God and He (The Word) Was God. Only the Triune Godhead can justify and affirm to this scripture.>>
This would imagine, assume, add to, and read into what John wrote that the first instance of Theos in John 1:1 refers to two persons. However, Jesus only spoke of one person whom he had been with. -- John 17:1,3,5.
In reality, there is nothing at all in John 1:1, or anywhere else in the entire Bible, about God being more than person. One does not need to add to the scripture anything at all about a trinune God in order to "justify and affirm this scripture." It simply stands on its own.
However, while the Logos was with the only true God in the beginning, we also read of other spirit "sons of God" who were present at the time of the beginning of the world of mankind. -- Job 38:4-7.
