One, in denouncing the Jehovah's Witnesses, has made the claim that there is no way that the tetragrammaton of God's name could be pronounced as "Jehovah".My response:
I am not with the Jehovah's Witnesses, but I have done a lot of study related to God's Holy Name. The above, however, is only relevant if one wishes to add to the Bible that one MUST pronounce God's Holy Name as it was originally pronounced in Hebrew. I do not know of any scripture that says that one MUST pronounce the Holy Name in other languages exactly as it was originally pronounced in Hebrew.

It is being claimed that "Jehovah" is an invention by a Catholic monk in the 13th century, mixing the Tetragrammaton in the Latinized form along with the vowels from Adonai or Lord.
My response:
I am supposing that this is regarding claims being made concerning Raymundus Martini? The idea that Martini invented the English form "Jehovah" developed from a mistake the JWs presented in their publications. The error has been repeated a lot, although it is has been shown to be false. No Catholic monk invented the English form "Jehovah", nor is there any evidence of anyone mixing the vowels (evidenly supplied by the Masoretes) from the Masoretic word often transliterated into English as "Adonai" with the tetragrammaton so as to create the English form "Jehovah". The Masoretes supplied two different versions of the Holy Name, the one most common is that which is transliterated into English as "Yehovah", "Jehovah", "Ieouah", "Yehowah", etc., depending on which transliteration device one uses for transliteration.
The reality is that Raymundus Martini presented a Latin form of the Holy Name as "Yohoua". As best as I can determine, Martini never stated where he obtained the vowels to make the Latin form, "Yohoua". The real point is that Martini never used the later English form "Jehovah" at all,
We should remember that the original Hebrew had no written vowels for any word at all. The Masoretes supplied vowel points to the words about 200 years before Martini lived.

Some like to point out that the word Hova in Hebrew means a ruin a pond a ruin, or the God of ruined or mischief!
My resposne:
Since "Jehovah" is not based on the Hebrew word transliterated as "hovah" (Strong's 1943), this is actually irrelevant. The English form "Jehovah" is actually based on the most common form of the Holy Name as found in the Masoretic Hebrew text (Strong's #3068).
I do believe that the JWs are misusing God's Holy Name by their claims for their organization, and I believe that they actually bring reproach to that name by their teaching of eternal destruction for most of the unregenerated (including all children whose parents do not come to their organization for salvation) in Armageddon.
Some others do similarly by their use of differing English forms ("Yahweh", "Yahwah", "Yahaveh", etc.) of the Holy Name, and teaching similar teachings. Others definitely misrepresent God's Holy Name as being "The Lord", "God", "Adonai", "HaShem", etc.
